   Wheat...A retreat from the sharp early week rally across the wheat
futures complex weighed on west coast cash wheat bids on Thursday, with
prices down 10 to 30 cents from the mid-week highs but still closing
with solid weekly gains. Hard red winter 11.5% protein wheat marked the
$7.75 level this week, the best posting since early August of 2023.
   Weekly Sales...USDA reported a total of 13 million bushels in export
demand last week for both old and new crop positions. Old crop sales of
4.9 million bushels puts current year commitments at 915 million, which
is 16% ahead of a year ago and 19% above the 5-year average pace. Hard
red winter was the top seller with 2.1 million bushels, putting sales
at 324 million which is 59% ahead of a year ago and 45% above average.
New crop sales came in at 8.1 million bushels, with Mexico buying 2.9
million bushels, The Philippines securing 2.4 million and Unknown with
990,000 bushels.
